I wonder if you have lost power to half the hob, check power inlet for damaged terminals

Would the panel lights still work tho, but I never had the cooker so out perhaps your rightif the terminal block has a split connection affair

They may well work.

I can imagine control voltage coming from L1 terminal
May well use a ct coil to detect current on supply to each ring, therefore if it thinks there is power to ring and the current is not being measured, it may see that as pot missing

Some stoves have a control panel and 2 x independent modules --
1 is either dead or unplugged ?
(Checking input power connections also a good call @James )
