HI AGAIN ALL

INSTALLING INDUSTRIAL FIRE ALARM FOR FIRST TIME. FOLLOWING INSTRUCTIONS BY MATE.

CAN SOMEONE EXPLAIN HOW THEY WORK ?

I THOUGH THEY HAD AN EOL RESISTOR TO GIVE A FIXED RESISTANCE VALUE THAT THE PANEL WOULD MONITOR. BUT WHEN INSTALLING HEAT DETECTORS EACH HEAD SEEMS TO HAVE A RESISTER IN IT.

IS THIS CORRECT ? WHY IS IT THERE ?

TIA

the device in each head is probably a diode. you may be learning, but with something like a fire alarm, you must be working under a mentor. a mistake can cause multiple fatalities.

one word.... GRENFELL.

Yes it will be checked and signed off by qualified prior to completion. Thanks for the input :)

well, you are right in the eol device.usually a resistor, but more recently a capacitor or a combination R & C. panel minitors eol. if the loop goes open circuit, then it goes into fault. a resistance across the loop. typically 470 Ω, sends it into Fire. addreessable systems are more complex.

Ah ok. So the heat alarm wont actually go open circuit when it detects fire/heat , it will alter resistance ?
