Was in Lidl today and noticed they are doing an inspection camera from next Thursday

LIDL Great Britain - lidl.co.uk

Now, I've fancied getting one of these for ages. Those of you who already have one:
Are they good?
Is this particular one a good one?
What kind of features should you get in a camera like this?
Doesn't seem to be a recording option or connect to laptop option - does this matter?
Is this a good price?

I'll probably end up getting it anyway, but would be good to know I'd be doing the right thing, and not hanging on for a better deal.

been looking at a RING one in Costco, cant remember exact price but its around £90 with the nasty added. could have done with one this week while chasing a poor IR reading on a terraced ring main. i destroyed the upstairs looking for damaged cable and junction boxes under the floor.

to be honest anything under £100 that can help save us time and effort has got to be worth a punt.

I'm glad this offer has come around again - they did it a while ago but I didn't get around to taking advantage of it.
It comes with a 3 year manufacturers guarantee so I reckon for £70 it's got to be good for a giggle.

That heat gun for a tenner looks pretty good as well...

has anyone actually got this one? I had a pig of a job last week trying to trace the route of some tails in a cavity so something like this is very tempting!

Balls, I bought a camera about a month ago but not for that price... :(

Very handy to have, even for just finding cable routes etc without having to pull boards up.

I got the Aldi one when they had it in store.

Same price and seems to have the same functions. I think it's v. good given the price and where it's from.

Ill get one, it's worth the money. At the moment I Use the recording option on my iPhone, flash on, push record and poke it into any nook and cranny I need to get to. My boss thought it was a great idea and the other week he taped his phone to some trunking and lifted it up so he could see something high level.

i saw it in the magazine in store today never took notice of the dates...!! i need to go tomorrow and stock up any way as i only called into day to get some bait for work!!

cpc do one by duratool and its got a record facility on it (sd card) less than 100 quid, bit annoying really as wife bought me a duratool 1 for christmas but without the recorder.

Being a bit thick, but how does the goose neck lead function? Is it semi rigid and do you bend it to the approximate shape you want to place the camera in the right place?

I got the wireless one that CPC did (Duratool again) last year but had a problem with the camera head - picture kept breaking up and, so sent it back for a refund.
You have to make a 1" to 2" hole in the wall/floor to get the head in and it's not always easy to recognise what your looking and where it is. There are other cameras that have auto levelling/rotating heads so that the picture is always upright which helps.

As for the recording option, I used mine with a cheap (£15) Video/USB converter and a old laptop I had kicking around, this gave me a bigger screen to look (12") and the record option.

Will keep and eye on my LIDL (France) - Most of the time, within a week or so we have the same items but this time we don't appear to have the camera - bummer

Well picked one up first thing this morning, the goose neck is semi rigid and you can bend it into the desired shape. A really useful feature is the the switch for rotating the picture 180 degrees or a mirror image. Only slight problem with it is the instructions say NOT FOR COMMERCIAL OR INDUSTRIAL USE. Oh well I will just have to use it at home lol. The head is waterproof down to about 1m. Didnt have to use it on the job this morning but I still had aplay with it. At £70 its worth keeping in the van.
