Hello guys and maybe the odd gal..
i'm after a bit of advice. there is an 'A' frame roof thats about to have the suspended ceiling put up and i have to put the drops in ready for the lights. What is the normal practice in dropping the cables (approx 1.2 to 2m) from the rafters down to sus. ceiling height? Am i being over the top in thinking of using cable tray screwed down from the rafters so i can tie wrap the cables to it?
Any sane and sensible advice gratefully recieved.

suggest using some threaded rod, fixed to rafters. well cheaper than tray. as long as the cable is supported, bottom end can be secured to the fitting.

I think you are right with the cable tray you can then install it at the right height with the shortes cable drop ,what light fittings are you using in there ,it may be an idea to use junction boxes(ashley J501) for the main cable runs and drop down to the fittings in flex ,doing it this way the total load current at the first fitting will be covered with a 16 amp JB rather than a piece of 5 amp terminal block if you see what i mean

thanks guys
the junction box isn't an issue as there will be a central wago box up on the rafters distributing to each light. Don't think i need to change to flex near the light as they are 600x600 72watts total, using 4 cfl tubes so no serious heat generation to affect the cable.
