Discuss Installing loft socket in the UK Electrical Forum area at ElectriciansForums.net

Old Immersion heater. I did that too, but made it a radial with a new double socket on the landing, a socket for the tv amp and a 3A sw/fuse for attic lights.

In some houses thought, the immersion was switched from the kitchen, or through a controller of some sort (E7 quartz, etc)

There is also the issue of making sure this circuit, however it’s done, is protected by an RCD. Maybe that is the difference between the £100 and £500 quotes.

Where about in Edinburgh are you mate?Could be a nice post lockdown job for me.

That is a very good point!

While £100 is quite low and £550 is very high for simply adding a socket, it is more reasonable if it involves fitting RCD and/or some sort of dedicated feed from the consumer unit.
