When I first posted the toolstation ones in the Arms I got all sorts of ridiculous flack, including the yellow lever did not have a green stripe, obviously they have become a bit more acceptable since then.

used a few of them on cable repairs. nice and compact. you don't need to get slack to fit wagos. bit of heatshrink if you want to be pedantic.

It depends whether you want safety approvals or just something that works. I use them for non-critical applixations and they are great, but for real stuff I need products with real approvals and tech backup.

Yeah, I thought we changed from RYB to 'get in line' with EU.

Mind you, it was another means of money making, so I suppose we can understand our brilliant top businessmen and leaders making a bob or two (billion) out of it.
I wonder if we'll get a change back by the 19th.....just for a repeat performance.?

It was not an EU thing, it was IEC. The goal made sense, to have harmonised colours, but the choices made were stupid.

In nature things that are dangerous to touch or eat advertise that aspect via bright colours (wasps, ladybirds, poisonous frogs, poisonous snakes, etc) so that would be a sane choice for live conductors.

Instead got black and brown, both seen by the general public as "safe" and not colours you can have on indicator lights either

I realise that, just moaning. As regards harmonising, it just made it worse. Whoever came up with the idea certainly had no visual impairment (slight, even). That 'goal' is just never going to be reached, is it?

Trouble is that only works if you have individual cores, can't work with T&E unless we have rainbow coloured sleeve's to put over the one we choose to be the switched live, and then we are back to where we started.

Germany, Sweden, Holland, Belgium, Norway, Austria, Denmark etc(to name but a few) all use Brown as their live conductor and have done for many years. Long before it became a CENELEC requirement in 2011

May not be what you wanted to hear but the current phase colours of brown, black, grey (Obviously blue as neutral) were proposed by.... you guessed it.. the UK and accepted by the Europeans way back in the early days of your membership
