worra load of crap.

I think it would be a good idea, no more extension leads or multi plug adaptors as they sit on top of each other! No more ripping the lead out of the plug or the socket out of the wall because the cav box can't take the strain, or that charger plug that got snagged and pulled the cable and a new one is ÂŁ100! What's not to like about it?

Yeah it doesn't say what the maximum output would be but the one on our tablet is 1500ma so I'm guessing in time they would be able to produce something high load!
+ everything is supposed to be using less energy these days too!

Dream on Mate

It does the same as a USB socket except it's bigger and doesn't have the data transfer capability; unless you really need to be able to charge your phone underwater this is a solution to a problem which doesn't exist.

It’s competition for the usb socket. It’s not intending for any high load appliances, the same as the usb outlets.

Why bother with very limited use outlets when you can fit the good old fashioned type which power anything - with USB outlets if required.

Now all it wants is some bright spark to come up with an adapter with 13amp plug pins on it and the pin free device built in, to span the 15 or 20 years it'll take to get these sockets into common use.
Oh, Hang on,,,,

Some very interesting and valid points so far.
This is one of those things that may make it to sale eventually but probably by that time something better would have been conjured up!
