Hi , I've recently moved into a propery with an electric shower installed , there is no isolation switch in the bathroom, the showers seems to be wired directly from the consumer unit , it is on its own supply and can be isolated at the board , is this sufficient to pass an electrical test ? Or will I need an electrician to fit a double pole isolation point for the shower ?

Regards

Also who installs it should take in to account the manufacturers instructions. Usually they say to fit a means of isolation (i.e. that Joe Public would understand how to use, as few folk would know which/how to isolate at the DB if something was smoking or crackling on a fault, etc).

I believe it requires seperation of both live conductors so yes a dp switch is required (unless you have dp circuit breakers)

At least that contraption is easy to find!
spawn of the devil. fire risk from poor terminations. exposed basic insulation when you try and get the cables in a tiny box. (they always push up into the attic). unless , of course you fit the Crabby or Click 50A units. these were obviously not designed by B&Q to accept 2 x 2.5mm cables).

Usually the panic alarms are next to the bog in case someone is in danger of doing an Elvis.
Presley or Costello?
