Is it possible for all or at least most electricians to be trained up in the wiring of solar PV installations, particularly the iBoost or Eddy or similar boxes? I have had two iBoost and I still have no hot water ability as iBoost boxes seem to be a disaster and absolutely impossible to find any electrician who will touch solar PV installations. I have solar PV installed but it does not heat me any hot water and the installer just keep telling me to get an electrician but there aren't any! All electricians anywhere near the west of Ireland tell me they don't do solar PV because they don't know enough about it. What am I, a householder, supposed to do? Is there any competent electrician in Co Mayo or surrounding counties able to wire in my system to get me hot water from my 2kw solar PV system? I've already bought two iBoosts. I don't want another one if I have to buy something new but I keep hitting my head off a brick wall, unable to find anybody to fix my problem. Thank you.

The biggest problem, and not just solar, but EV as well, is that electricians need to pay to train in new technologies, then pay to be accredited by separate manufacturers, and pay for specialist test equipment etc.
the only ones that can afford it are big business types, whose employees are not always the brightest.
Most electricians possibly could sort it out, but without being accredited, they won’t get the technical help from the manufacturer.

Thank you for the explanation. 🥴

I agree with everything littlespark said, and would add one more point.

Here in the UK there are or have been various grants or subsidies/feed-in tarrifs for EV chargers or solar etc., all administered by the government to encourage take up in the early days. The trouble is you have to jump through hoops sometimes to qualify, a simple paperwork mistake can be costly, and grants can be very slow to be paid. It is all more agro I can do without.

I've considered in the past doing this type of work, but since I've plenty of other work (and sometimes too much) I've always concluded not to bother.
