Isolation for SPDs

Evening all

Do type 2 SPDs need isolation? I’m planning a dual tarrif board change with Crabtree RCBOs & AFDDs but Crabtree don’t do a dual board with SPD

I’m going to put a separate SPD in and saw Crabtree so a unit with no main switch and just the SPD. Guessing tails straight in.... no main switch

SPDs should be connected to the nearest outgoing way to the main switch via an OCPD and the connecting cables should be as short as possible

SPD’s should be able to be isolated locally to facilitate maintenance and/or replacement when defunct.
Some have replacement cartridges and some do not.
