Was an early phone call this morning....

“ok” I said “I’ll be there soon”

Turns up at the door, and the man of the house is washing his car.... wife standing on the doorstep.

“go on,” he says “tell the lad what you done”

Turns out Mrs is decorating the lounge, stripping wallpaper. Some was still caught behind the brass dimmer switch.... So she tried to pick it out with a kitchen knife!

“I got a bit of a shock”

“I’m not f**king surprised!” I said very quietly behind the mask.

They’re getting a quote for a new CU. Took me longer to find my old card of fuse wire in the van than anything else

Usually it is getting toast out of the toaster, when on, with a metal fork or knife! At least nothing but pride was hurt.

If a CU change is not affordable I would suggest the Wylex plug in MCB replacements for the fuses, not only is easier for folk to reset but removes the risk of putting any old wire in. But a new CU with RCDs/RCBOs is obviously a much better solution.

That would only work if it is a Wylex board.
