Joining existing cooker cable

Hi, neighbour has asked me if I would move his cooker control switch for him. Since new position of it is further away,this would require joining existing cable via JB or, as is preferable, running a new cable. Running a new cable is a fairly big job,so do the regs allow a JB to be used in this case. Cable is twin and earth 6mm. Thanks

Would be a bit of a hassle getting a JB that this cable will fit into safely imo. Tin hat on.

Wago do 6mm connectors but I dont think 2x 6mm cables will fit into a wagobox. Crimp or solder connections.

Rewire best option in my book tin hat back on tied under the chin.

Have you ascertained the cable route as it may be a case of shortening as opposed to lengthening.

As long as it's Maintenance Free, but I'm not a fan of joining that size of cable, under a floor, or anyway for that matter, asking for trouble in the future if you ask me, tin hat still on.

Agree Mate but there will always be someone who thinks that a joint is a safer option. OP needs to explain the possible pitfalls of a joint to the customer, I'll leave me tin hat off now.

It is preferable not have joints in high load cables.
If its unavoidable I would prefer to have the joint in an accessible place for future inspection.

A metal enclosure would require an earth, a connection which would need to be accessible.

I've extended an existing cooker circuit in a kitchen refurb, using the aforementioned Wago 773's and a surface box. With the box mounted in the rear of a kitchen wall unit.
