Hi There,

Ive just found a job as a trainee electrician, I have lots of previous experience with normal lighting cricuits but this company I will be working for do alot of Lutron lighting systems, are these Lutron lighting systems similar wiring to the normal lighting circuits? may sound stupid but I have a couple of days trial and wanna know how to ask the right questions thats all.

Many Thanks

Congratulations! They're quite rare these days:smile5:

You can say that again!! I'm quite lucky actually. This company seems like a good company to get on also, just gonna keep my head down and work hard!! just been looking at these Lutron lighting systems and they seem quite advanced. Very interesting and very clever though!

congratulations on the job mate :). the title says it for you mate "trainee" so don`t worry too much as that what they will be doing. just make sure your not on the phone every ten minutes and you listen when they are telling you things and you will be fine. did they say much on the interview about what you will be doing work wise?

Yeah, lots of prestigious houses, casinos, restaurants, clubs and things all round the country. I have worked for many other people before but nothing like this, I love the job and have a lot of experience. I will definatly not be on the phone every 5 minutes (unless its my boss lol) and will be listening and taking on board everything!! Its a shame really, this is probably one of the reasons apprenticeships are so hard to find these days, due to the fact that people have no motivation and willing in learning and it must put people off. Im gonna try bloody hard and show the company my gratitude for taking me on. well happy!!

with an attitude like that mate if you stick with it you will make a dam good electrician. really happy for you. grin and bear the rubbish times and just think its only a few years till your fully qualified and experienced. its not all a bed of roses but well well worth it in the end. it shows your a decent sort of guy getting the job with so many out of work. don`t forget there are loads of good people on here to help you if you need it as well. dont be afraid to ask :D

Nice to hear fella,we`ve got 3 apprentices with us and they`re doing just that, listening, asking questions and above all enjoying it.

Good luck mate!!!

well done n Good Luck

as for LUTRON Im assuming its the grafix controllers they need a Supply ( from mains) then depending on how many sets of lights your controlling a switch supply to start of each set ( or contactor if its heavier loads ) ie living room with 2 sets of spots < a center light< 2 sets of 5 a standard lamps would need 5 switched supplys Wiring them is eassy its the setting that realy does my head in and any remote dimmers (dependant on size will require cabled as welll ) Bir of a **** to wire if its chased as chase will need to be big enough to accomodate cables but when finished and set up its a fantastic effect and a ggood Buzz seeing it all work

Congratulations on getting the job.
As someone mentioned watch out for the phone syndrome. It will not go down well if you take private calls at work.
