The Ghost

Called to inspect power completely off. As title suggests main fuse had popped and DNO said call an electrician. You will not believe this job! The boxes are rotting away. The cables full of verdigree and corrosion. Soaking wet. All at a chinese take away. The cellar has no light. The only way in is down a dodgy ladder. Never seen anyfing like it in my life. I will have to post more pics as I drill down into the detail. A fascinating challenge to say the least. Chaos.

I was parked outside a Chinese in Broadstairs once and the owner come over to the van and asked if I could change the light in the kitchen....Went in and it was disgusting! Plucked ducks on the side, thick grease everywhere and what looked like years of grime...The floor looked like it had never seen a mop. I've never had a Chinese takeaway since! I told the customer ÂŁ40 to change the Grease coated fitting over as they had already brought one, got the steps out the van and said to the apprentice "up you go" :D...I wasn't that mean though as I let the apprentice keep the ÂŁ40 ;)

It is all on the one phase
Yes indeed but there is surprisingly very little electrical equipment as they cook on gas, just fridges and a couple of 2kw rice cookers. Upstairs one light one socket in each of four rooms very dated though, so not so bad that is why there are only eight circuits there. But outside they have some very dodgy extension leads whizzing about. I told them it will all have to go. And when I issued they certificate and they sign the job is done, don't call me back if you put anything in I have told you not to.

Last time i went in the cellar of a chinese take away, I was "escorted" to the CU , the next time I went down, on my own I noticed a new wall had been built, an extension lead went over it and a line of shoes were outside the door

Made me wonder how many illegals were living there!

They have 20 family members living in the loft growing cannabis.......
