Just finishing of a job, testing different circuits everything ok.
Testing ring main rcbo protected doing the usual test, soon as I switch tester on rcbo trips.
All the tests are ok,ie continuity ,insulation resistance & polarity tried another tester & this works fine.
The tested works ok on other circuits, but not on that specific one.
Any ideas.

Yea used another one, tested 0.45 ohms trip times ok.
Real weird tester ok on other circuits.
Strange mate, I have a kt65 which is great and an olde kt63 and the only times that happens is if I have the high test on accidentally.....I would say ya testers but if they work fine on a similar circuit??....so are you trying loop test with em on a rfc with the plug attachment?

Had a similar thing once when doing a No-Trip Zs test after a socket change. RCD tripped straight away on testing, and tester (KT64DL) displayed 'No'. Turned out the sump pump in the cellar was on it's way out, and leaking just enough current to earth to trip the RCD when testing Zs, but not enough to trip it in normal use.

Have you tested the RCBO itself? Try a ramp test 1) with outgoing conductors disconnected and 2) with them connected.

Yea just normal stuff, plug the tester in switch to no trip, test, rcbo straight off.

Yea tried on other tester all fine.

I’d be following @Pretty Mouth post mate, clearly even on no trip the small amount of current injected is enough to tip the rcbo......
Edit did you say another tester worked fine?

Ok,its ring main, boiler heater for hot water for tea making, microwave, fridge, washing machine that’s it about 5x 2g sockets.

Remember you're testing the device, not the circuit.......

He’s loop testing @Rockingit, the rcd tripping is an effect of this, if I’ve interpreted correctly?....
My bad. You are of course quite right, and this is a lesson in how to make an arse of yourself. ?

Yea tested with another tester,0.45 ohms on circuit tripping x5 @ 12 ms.
Just makes me wonder,we’ve got some remedials to do probably investigate, for peace of mine.
