Discuss Keyed Lockable isolator - does it exist? in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

Wonky Toad

Just wanting some advice on finding a product. - The sparky i'm using was unable to reccomend a product.

I'm installing some machines in a woodworking workshop. They're all 13 amp or less, and ordinarily plug into a standard 13 amp.

Because of the client group which are going to use the workshop, we want to be able to lock the machines off so they can't be turned on by anyone unsupervised.

The easy solution I found would be to wire them into rotary isolators which can be locked with a padlock.

Although this would work I envisage it being a bit of a faff to lock and unlock them 10 times a day.

What I'm looking for is a simular product that has a key barrel built in so I dont have to mess about with a padlock, and can just put a key in, use the machine, and then lock and remove key, or something simular.

Hope all that waffle makes sense.

Couldn't find much through google, but then i didn't really know what to google for.

Any sugestions?

Thanks

Dan

All isolaters I have come across have been the type you describe which require a padlock to lock them of for safety, the type you are talking about would not comply as a safe isolation as the key would not be unique and thus no one makes them.
