Well it's arrived and it's a dam great lump of a thing and talk about complicated, need a degree in computer science to use it, and it only WiFi connects to iPads, iPhones etc not to a MacBook, all in all I think I have wasted my money.
which one you got? i'm considering the toolstation £49.50 jobby.

The Brother E550W, it does print beautiful labels and the heat shrink option is a good one, but!!! I think too complicated.

They are all the same, so I shouldn't worry. I've a Dymo Rhino. The best way I found to use it, was connect it (hard wired) to a pc and use the software, much easier to understand.

That said, when I used it for labelling mcb's on a CU, its quite restrictive on the description for each circuit. Try to type in too much, it becomes too small to read.

I have been experimenting with the MacBook, but the software is restricted for a Mac, Arghh, so have to use Windows on Parallels, forgot how bad Windows really is in comparison.

I use the dyme rhino for general work but the dymo XTL500 for more exacting tasks. But was very disappointed when the xtl broke down (sofware in it went ---- up) dymo did not want to know. Why you ask? Because the invoice I had from a trade show purchase was not good enough for them. Had a bit of a struggle to get them to sort it and had to wait a few days to get it back. Apart form that the software is good and you can produce just about anything you need for labelling. Of course the xtl is pricey and the label cartridges

Looking on e-bay there is a 10% saving code for the PTE550 wifi connected version, so it's under £150.00 if anyone is interested.

And even though their website says the PTE300VP is in stock they do not have any and not expecting a delivery for at least another month. o_O

What's the eBay code/shop as I'm tempted to get one myself.

It's for use in the office, I print off a laser printer in strips that fit the Hager panel the software is called "Semiolog" very neat, but you need to know the details of the panel to get the correct format, you can also use/print the Hager standard colour labels for the MCB's, make's one look very professional don't you know.

I just measured the width of mcb/rcd etc, allowed overlap of 1 or 2mm. Then entered the details into the parameters of the software. Jobs a good en. To be fair, I think you'll find all these printers are just rebadged products, which includes the software.

When I said "details of the panel" I should have said model No as in "Hager Delta" thought my original "details" description could be miss-interpreted as layout.

On the Brother software the label sometimes appears on the screen with a double boarder, it is best to delete this as it restricts the size of print on the label, also the centre space called the cable size does not seem to bear any relation to diameter, 4mm is enough label to wrap around three 2.5mm cable's

Anyone willing to take a punt on the above cartridges, 50:50, I will buy then and send them on to anyone willing, five cartridges for just over £16.05 plus postage to you, can't be bad, PM me if interested.

Anyone used the cheap China imported labels, I just don't see how they can do ten cartridges of heat shrink tube for £32.11 compared to the UK market price of between £6 to £8: Tubing Tape Heat Shrink Tube Brother P-Touch Label Maker Shrinkable SLEEVING | eBay - https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Tubing-Tape-Heat-Shrink-Tube-Brother-P-Touch-Label-Maker-Shrinkable-SLEEVING/254526447999?epid=2264555828&hash=item3b42f5617f:m:miTYo-L9QrqiU-MV59S51-Q

Anyone used them?
Not tried the heat shrink, but the label cartridges now are of a quality quite similar to the official Brother ones.

Why not just buy 5 catridges from that seller for £16.05 delivered?

Anyone know the shrink ratio on these, also is the size on the flat or the dia? Found this on the web: This genuine Brother 5.8mm HSe-211 heat shrink tube tape is designed specifically for permanently marking and identifying cables and wires. With a shrink ratio of 2:1, the HSe-211 black on white tape is recommended for use with cables between 1.7mm and 3.2mm in diameter.
