popped in poundland over lunch time to grab a bottle of something to drink and a snack.
saw these 'downlights' on the display... turns out poundland have gone into downlights... I started to get all excited thinking of the mark up if i could fit these on a forthcoming job instead of the £12 ones...
Apart from the fact they dont come with the lamps, dont appear to come in any colour other than brass - despite the box showing white.. and you also need a transformer as they are 12v.... they are good value!
But all is not lost as at least according to the packaging they are fire rated!
I cant help but feel they are taking the proverbial with having these on the shelf... i am just waiting until a customer rings asking me to fit them or asking why they dont work after a diy attempt... I can then laugh a lot after i hang up of course....

I can only assume these were from a truckload of old stock sitting around somewhere that poundland have bought up cheap and practically been paid to take off the previous owners hands as brass is not used these days...

I've been knocking them out for £30 per light at discerning customers residences. I told them the truth about LED the high frequency light output is why their eyes are failing and going back to tungsten is the way forward. Of course they cost more but what price health. They've been lapping them up.
I am joking!

@Gavin John Hyde very harsh title and topic. There is nothing dodgy about them. They are just old stock getting moved on as no one uses either brass nor MR16 these days.

I'll let @GeorgeCooke correct me in due course on MR16's
I have taken lessons on titles and headlines from the newspapers and now am a master of the art of click bait...
click are a decent make. I really like there sockets/switches etc, my local indy supplier stocks them now!
.. and as i said in one of posts above, they are likely old stock they bought dirt cheap, just a shame they are in brass and not white otherwise i would have been tempted to switch the gubbins for gu10 fittings and been very happy...

Click Scolmore is a reputable brand for what I've seen online and their catalogue they have been fully tested for fire, sound etc and has the documentation to prove it these lights are generally used in domestic installations and whilst brass is so out these days they are some peoples cup of tea.
