Hi .. putting an LED mirror in the bathroom but need a mains supply for the transformer in the mirror ..

Is it ok to either connect to the light fittings in the ceiling .. coming off the live and neutral..

Or it would be easier to connect to the feed off the shaver unit running the cables below the plaster ..

Is either of these safe to do ..

Thanks for your help ..

How would you connect the wiring to the mirror with normal connector blocks as just thinking of all the steam from the shower ..l know it's behind the mirror but just worried ..

Hi Martin. Either of those two methods could be suitable. The cable end could be terminated into the mirror itself, or if the manufacture of the mirror provides a lead, into a suitable junction box.

The work might also be notifiable to your local building control;

Forum rules do not allow step by step guides, so that is all the advice I can offer. It might be more appropriate to employ a competent electrician (registered with a scheme if applicable), who could design, install, test & inspect your addition to your lighting circuit, and notify to LBC if required.

You can find an electrician, from the government approved web site, I've linked.

@Martin Dyke, please ensure you carry out safe isolation procedure, follow the manufacturers instructions, ensure the luminaire is earth (if required), and that the RCD functions as it should.

I would really recommended you employ a competent electrician, a bathroom is one of the worst places to start your diy electrical apprenticeship. No offence.
