Hi ive bought an LED strip light to replace and ‘old fashioned’ one which is in my loft. The existing is wired via a fused plug to a socket in the loft the new light is double insulated and unlike the old one doesnt need an earth. Am i ok still connecting it to a fused plug with maybe a 3 amp fuse in and not have any earth? Im a DIY’er as im sure you can guess!

Short answer is yes that is fine.

If the cable you use has an earth in it, connect it at the plug and then cut it off at the light fitting.
