Discuss Leds glowing when off in the DIY Electrical Advice area at ElectriciansForums.net
This is not anything to worry about - just more annoying! The glowing or flashing effect is reported on this forum quite often.I have a 3 lamp fitting in bedroom with led lamps which emit a very slight glow even when switched off. When I switch on light in adjacent bedroom they glow a bit brighter. They also glow a little if I switch on hall light. Can anyone help? Thanks.
Thanks mate . it's been doing it for years . I'm sure I measured a small amount of volts with multimeter when I removed a lamp and this increased to 50V when I switched on the light next door. This is not anything to worry about - just more annoying! The glowing or flashing effect is reported on this forum quite often.
It's most likely due to capacitative coupling from permanently live conductors inducing a voltage on the switched lighting circuit, which is causing the led's to glow. A solution is to reduce that 'ghost' voltage by fitting a 'snubber' device between (switched L) & (N) at each light fitting afflicted with the glow!
