Hi,

Which do you guys use? I've bought the light stuff as it's going in a shed where there's not going to be any risk of mechanical impacts. It seems unnecessary to spend extra on the heavy stuff.

Is the choice to use heavy gauge purely due to its greater mechanical protection and because light gauge splits easier when being bent?

Thanks if you can help,

Always used heavy gauge as it's industry standard really. Don't forget the internal diameter is different so you'll need a light gauge bending spring.

I would only ever consider light gauge where it is to be embedded within a wall. If it's surface it needs to be heavy gauge for impact resistance in my opinion. (Or, better yet, galvanised.)

The only benefit to light gauge is the larger ID. I've only installed it once. I wouldn't recommend, heavy gauge is flimsy enough as it is. We have started to use galvanised conduit a lot more now which is far superior to plastic conduit.
