Hi,

I had an electrician rewire my flat and he never finished. In the lounge I have a 2 Gang Switch, one for the ceiling light and the other for the 5amp table lights. I have two T+E cables running down to the switch. I was told to bridge the Coms to create power for the 5amp circuit. I want to install a 2 Gang dimmer switch. Is the attached diagram correct???

Thanks.

It's possible, but there's no way to be sure without proper testing. The electrician who installed the cables should be able to tell you.

i'd imagine that the 2 T/E cables are switch wires. if so then each one should go to each switch independently. brown to common and blue to L1 .

Thanks for the replies. One of the T+E is live and the other isn't. I was told to link the coms to create power to the second (5amp Lights) switch. The guy who installed it disappeared off onto another job and left me in the lurch. I have a neighbour who is a sparks and he wants me to have a bash myself before checking it out. I've had no problems with easier 13amp sockets or single switches but I'm a bit flummoxed with this one.

tell your neighbour that you're stuck and get him to fix it.
