Lighting circuit earth singles ?

Priced a job today to fit some lights in a house, which looked about 20-30 yrs old.
Noticed on the landing fitting when I pulled the existing fitting down, that there appeared to be 4 solid green coloured conductors terminated at the fitting. One was "twinned" with the switched live, the others singles.
The switched live and neutral where present as normal and functioning fine. The loop was out of sight.

Just wondering if anyone else came across similar for the era. ?
There may have been a hint of yellow with the green insulation, if so it was very faded. Best I could tell they were solid green.

Without going in the loft my assumption is that there was a JB up there at some point and it's been "altered" into the choc block I found. !

our lasses mams council house in hull has the cpc of the lights all in singles as they needed to upgrade system but a full rewire was out of question lol... (typical council)

That would explain it.

Solid green earth sleeve was common late 60's early 70's ,thats one of the indicators for ID 'ing how old the install is ,what they used to do was jbs in the loft for all the switch wires and feed ins and outs unbelivable how many cables you could get in a JB ,what the main problem was with the older wiring was not enough terminals so what the used to do was to leave the CPC's till last put the lid on the JB and twist them all together outside the JB
