Lighting circuits

Is it permissible to drop a 'brown/blue' + earth 1.5mm cable in a lighting circuit to a room lighting switch (switched live circuit), or must it be a 'brown/brown' + earth?

If it was loop in at light method and using twin then yes your 1.5mm t&e would the permanent feed and switch wire.

Yeah but needs the blue conductor sleeved brown as its a live conductor

you can use either, but if it's brown/blue, sleeve the ends of the blue with brown sleeve ( about 1" will do) to ID it as a switched L and not N.

Maybe I misunderstood your post but only the other day I only had blue double insulated cable left and ran this in sleeving it brown.

quitew acceptable, though unusual. you can still use red/black as long as you sleeve the ends in whatever the colour of the year is with the brussels sprout bureau rats. next year it will be violet, pink and peach, to match their suits and ties.
