I'm just going through the schedule of inspections in preparation for my testing day tomorrow for my AM2.

I'm stuck with "presence of a linked main switch" is that a switch that disconnects line and neutral? Or a switch that disconnects more than one pole?

So, would a 3 pole (3 phase) isolator be classed as a linked main switch?

Still unsure what a linked main switch is. The information in that reg just tells you what a linked main switch is used for.

Ie it a switch that switches the neutral and line conductors or a switch that switches multiple phases? I.e a 3 phase isolation main switch?

A linked switch generally means a set of switches, one, two, three or four which are mechanically connected so they all switch as one. For example a consumer units main switch is two switches encased withinin an enclosure to switch as one. For three phase installations it is only necessary to switch the neutral if a TT earthing system is in use as the neutral is not deemed to be at earth potential. Generally three phase installations have a triple pole linked switch, essentially three switches enclosed within one module and linked to disconnect at the same time. There is a requirement where only a triple pole switch is used on a three phase supply and that is there must be a removable link between the main neutral connection and the neutral bar.
