Load on non RCD side, causes RCD trip

Hi

Looking for advice on a intermittent fault. New dishwasher is causing RCD to trip (happened with two new dishwashers - supplier changed it for me). Thinking therefore it was an issue with the ring main, I plugged it into the cooker socket but it still trips at some point during the dishwasher cycle. This is the dedicated one for the cooker and not protected by the RCD (i.e. split RCD consumer unit).

Could the load from the dishwasher, exaserperate a problem with one of the RCD protected circuits (maybe split neutrals)?

Search for an apparently unrelated N to E fault.
Could be on any circuit.

The N-E fault will invariably be on a circuit protected by the RCD that trips, even if the load (dishwasher) that provokes the trip is not. The fault can also be within an appliance connected to a protected circuit.

what you need to do is to switch off each breaker in turn, also disconnecting the N. start with the circuits not on the RCD that trips. with 1 circuit disconnected in CU, turn on the heavy load (dishwasher appears to trip when on a heat cycle) and find out which circuit, when disconnected, cures the fault. that's where your N-E fault will be. last one i had was the shower had the N-E fault in the pull switch.any decent size load on the other RCD caused it to trip.
