Hello all,

I'm currently a HGV driver but it's not something I want to continue to do. I enjoy learning new things and expanding my knowledge which my current job doesn't have.

I have always been interested in becoming a electrician and now at 25 I feel like it's now or never to actually start training.

I've decided that I would go down the route of doing Level 2 and 3 part time at college.

My first question is how difficult would it be to find work as a electricians mate whilst studying for level 2?

My second question is would any experience I gain from being a electricians mate whilst doing Level 2 and 3 count towards my NVQ after completing level 3 or would I have to start my portfolio from scratch?

Thanks for any and all help you can give!

WHEN you get a job as an electricians mate, that is the time to photo evidence as many things as you possibly can with getting on the nerves of your boss.
Have a search on the forum because your question has come up numerous times and the answers are waiting for you to find.
Good age to start though.
Welcome to the forum

someone should actually start a YouTube channel depicting taking the electrical nvq from start to finish.
Maybe do weekly/monthly updates etc

Have you thought about machine moving? Often requires having driver and a spark to disconnect and reconnect.

Often a company like that will let you train on the job

Good thinking outside the box post

I remember speaking to a young lad on site a short while ago

Who did his nvq while working for a catering company installing catering equipment
