Dear All

First off, thank you for taking the time to look at my post.

I would like some advice, my father is a fully qualified domestic electrician with over 30 years experience and he is willing to take me on as an apprentice, on the condition that I can secure funding for the college courses. As i'm 20 years of age I am not eligible for 24 + loan to cover the costs of the courses, and I am not eligible for the apprenticeship funding.

Therefore would anybody be able to shed some light of this for me please, has anyone been a similar situation to me?

Many thanks in advance for you replies and comments.

Contact local college and get on NVQ 3 course. You will have to pay for this course. Learn theory and workshop practical's at college and get experience out with your father. You won't be an apprentice but an adult trainee.

One has to ask, why didn't you start with your father when you left school?? Sounds like you're dad wants to see a bit of commitment on your part, as regards to the college side of things, so i guess it's up to you to show him that commitment!!...

Your dad isn't domestic electrician, he's a fully qualified electrician with 30+ years experience that ''chooses'' to work in the domestic sector!! There's no such thing as a fully qualified domestic electrician, unless of course you listen to the Part Pee providers!! lol!!
