Hi All

Whilst carrying out some testing today I had the following messages on my Kewtech KT64DL.

L - N >20ohms - this was on the ring on only one socket, all others tested fine. Could this be a faulty socket?
n-pe hiv - this was on the upstairs lighting circuit. Was testing in the loft where I assume the furthest point would be. I got this message so tried at another light on the first floor and it tested fine. I assume this is an issue with a part of the circuit. I believe the issue is a high voltage between N - CPC. I was getting 137V when a tested N - CPC. All the lights on the circuit were working fine.

Can anyone shed some light on what might be the cause of the above.

Tom

Were these both Zs tests, on circuits that have RCD protection. They both seem linked to Kewtech's ATT (Anti Trip technology)

The first one could well be a faulty socket, in which case testing at the terminals to the back of the socket should show that.

The second might be an issue with Neutral to Earth low resistance, in which case the IR test on that circuit should pick it up. Are you sure you had Line and Neutral correctly connected, or that it wasn't reversed at that fitting?

What results did you get from dead testing on the lighting circuit? Sounds like you’ve got a broken earth (CPC) somewhere. Time to get the wander lead out, or R1R2 the circuit and see what you find.

WRT the high Zs on the socket, it’s more than likely the socket and needs replacement, can test as has been mentioned above.
