Discuss Low Voltage Electrical Requirement Regs 1989 in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

I've had an enquiry asking if I do safety checks under the Low Voltage Electrical Requirement Regs 1989. I've done a quick search on this forum and in Google but can't find any reference to this exact regulation.

I will contact the enquirer and ask for more details of what they want done, but it would be good to be a bit knowledgeable first. So what do you think they are asking for - a PIR, PAT testing...?

Did you not make the connection to the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989?

The only real bit of statute that we can point to when it comes to Periodic Inspection and Portable Appliance Testing.

There's the Electricity At Work Regulations 1989, the Electrical Equipment Safety Regulations 1989 and the Electricity Supply Regulations 1988 which, was the forerunner to the Electricity Safety and Continuity Regulations 2002.
Then there was the Electricity Act 1989, which was to do with the privatisation of the electricity supply industry.

I now have further information from the enquirer... an inspection is required before renting out a house, including leaving fridge/freezer in the house, so I'll offer a PIR and PAT testing of the few appliances which are being rented with the house.

Thanks for all the comments.
