The call is yours really , The hoists and mot equipment are inspected regularly and have their own regime, however the electronic gear ; ie pc's and smoke testers etc still have to be tested. Usually the bay itself does not get much abuse, but the gear they use to to the remedials- now thats another story . Usually all the flexes and plugs are damaged, wall sockets subject to cracking or burnt. You will get a better Idea when you do your first one.

All equipment yearly (recommended) for Pat Testing
All MOT equipment with the exception of computers needs to be calerbrated.

Check the regs with VOSA

Just to add that 240v inspection lamps are not allowed under an MOT hoist, as Rick says it will pay you to gen up on the VOSA requirements. And if the garage has a pit there are a few special conditions applied there also.
