Im preparing a house Ive rewired for an niceic assesment. The supply requires upgrading from 60 to 80amp. Ive dpoken to the distributing comany who say it can be done. Should I get my supplier ti do this or can i do it myself. Would thry also reconect the tails for me to the new Cu. Im guessing yes in both instances but I dont know how common it is for electricians to do this themselves.

Cheers

do not even attempt to interfere with those fuses if they are DNO's. and looks like the neutral may be fused. get DNO to sort it pronto, at no cost to the client.

Agree!!

Get the DNO to replace that old service cut-out. They have been instructed to replace these old cast iron DP rewireable cut-outs as they have been deemed too dangerous for DNO operatives and they're contractors to work on or maintain.

Don't be palmed off, insist on that head being replaced, any problems and get in touch with the ombudsman or whatever they are called these day's!!

Think its Npower who do this. I contacted northern power to upgrade it to 80amp. They said contact the supplier. However given the obsolete nature of the fuses I should probably go back to them?

Spynage.....Sorry thought Derby lol I think London is covered by UK Power Networks...Goggle them they got a good web page, easy to follow. At the end of the day..it is the DNO that looks after the infrastructure, not the supplier. The supplier just sells you electricity. Dig your heels in with the DNO
