hi , first post
is there a minimum light level, watts per meter that MCS require for commissioning the pv system, i have been told that a reading of over 200 watts per meter is necessary for acceptance for commissioning paperwork.

thanks in advance badger 2

Hi Badger2. Welcome aboard!

You will need to reference:

1, Photovoltaics in Buildings
Guide to the installation
of PV systems
2nd Edition

2, MCS3002

3, Your local DNO documentation.

I think 200wts a sq meter will be a struggle on most occasions. You'll find commissioning will mostly happen at the end of the day after all. We take a irradiation reading, record it on our cert and take the rest of the readings required. Its never been questioned to us.

Have to agree, in a perfect world I would like to take the readings at noon, but it seems to be nearly always the case its late afternoon on the second day. The output obtained during comisioning should relate directly to the radiance reading at the time of testing, which should in turn allow you to determine if everything is as expected and working within parameters of array, as long as the ouput is proportional to the wm2 then the values shouldent matter, i would think.
