Just wondering what brand and type of AA batteries people have found work best in their Megger 1552/1553. Looking for something that's going to give long term economy. For reference I have a 1553, but it seems to just peel through batteries. Can one use rechargeables? Ideally the answer is have the batteries bought by someone else, but I'm the one buying them.

I use Duracells. Personally I wouldn't put rechargeables in without being advised that it is OK to do so.

But she can be thirsty when it comes to batteries in fairness.

Megger don't advise on using rechargable, don't know why though?

I've been using energizer industrial and they seem to last pretty well

For 4 of them I pay £1.30 inc vat

And just to out-do myself, I found them on eBay for £7.89 for 40 [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/Energizer-Industrial-Long-Battery-623861/dp/B0031YAIH2/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1281451299&sr=8-6]Energizer Industrial Long Life AA Battery LR6 Ref: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics & Photo[/ame]- I rang the supplier, expiry date "at least 2015". Oh, that includes postage! A pack of 40 ordered.

That is cheap. Its the same place I get them from too, but from their site and not the ebay site.

Well, eBay is cut throat. In fact I worked it out, it's cheaper per battery to buy the 36 from eBay than the 40 from Amazon. If you buy more quantity from the same seller on ebay the prices get even cheaper. Their 9V price are give away.

My 1553 lasted longer on the energizer industrials it came with than with others since and at £7 im on Amazon NOW lol
