Had a call to see a customer, fault was the MCB would not reset. Turns out it was an RCBO and faulty.

Went to my local supplier, £92.50 for a replacement. As many of you will know this is a two part kit with a standard MCB and then an RCD unit piggy backed onto it.

They did say they didn't sell many and maybe I could get it cheaper elsewhere but as it was a lighting circuit I took it.

Anyone know of an equivalent? at a cheaper price for my future reference.

i was quoted a similar price about a year ago. ended up getting one from a e-bay wholesaler / on line shop for £45. my invoices are at my accountant's so i cant get the name of the wholesaler.

I think you can get the combined MEM memshield2 one which is just one solid RCBO thats slightly cheaper than the module, though hard to say what price you'll pay as there obsolete now.

Jeezus, ....at 92 quid a pop, it's got to be worth doing a CU change!!! Talk about taking the urinal, Just out and out sharks!!!!....So what did your customer have to say when given the news of the replacement price???

I passed on the bill to them, no added profit.

They took it well but were more interested in getting their lights fixed.

I will have a look at CEF

The part numbers were

mcb AD06bh30

rcd unit MR30 (new one, old one unmarked)

They did have a cheaper one but it would not have fitted into the busbar comb.

Thankyou all for the help

May be cheaper to stick MCB into board, surface mount/trunk cable to RCD/FCU located near to board. Have had to do this in the past when working on lighting circuits with obsolete CCUs or ones that have no room for RCBOs.

just had a similer issue we needed 3 of these pods to bring rented property upto regs, ended up changing the board as cheaper

Afraid they are obsolete now and the new style don't fit.Last rcbo I bought was 60& vat.Still doesn't beat square d 125& vat for a 20 rcbo for a tp& n boardRobbing ***** .
