As a volunteer for a charity I am fabricating a metal support structure for a computer screen to enable a quadraplegic to view the screen whilst lying in their bed. My question is: Should the metal framework have any sort of electrical bonding/earthing?
The frame will house a standard un-modified computer unit and display screen which will be plugged into the mains via normal 13 amp sockets. The frame will be supported on rubber wheels to enable it to be moved around. Their will be no electrical connections to the frame but I anticipate that the power cables will be tied to the frame for neatness.

Thanks in advance for any advice - I am not a professional or DIY electrician - just a welder!

It won't need it.

But put it on a industrial site and the bonding brigade will have a 6mm to it, along with anything else shiny in the near vicinity.

as the stand is not a part of the electrical equipment it will not need earthing. as it can't introduce an earth potential, then it won't need bonding. so carry on. :punk:

Many thanks for the replies - they confirm my guess that nothing is needed, but it is reassuring to hear it from people who know what they are talking about.
