Minor Works and Meter Tails

When installing lights would you change meter tails from 16mm to 25mm. Customer doesn't want to pay for upgrade main service fuse is 60a

If it's 60A then no need.

I'd more more interested in making sure the earthing/bonding is correct.

What's the CCC of 16mm tails?

If I was replacing a CU then perhaps you would but I don't see the point to be honest.

If the customer doesn't want to pay then why do it?

Bonding is fine and up to date, The 16mm tails will carry roughly 85 amp so im not bothered about that.. its a case of weather its acceptable to issue MWC if the tails are not as per the regs

You wouldn't find me changing them, you've just proved yourself that they do not need to be. 16mm tails rated to 85A protected with 60A device, where's the issue?

What earthing system is the installation using?

As I keep seeing posted recently, the Regs are Guidance Notes NOT LAW. In this situation you can safely justify why they do not need to be replaced especially as you are only doing a Minor Works. CU change? Fair enough but the customer has already stated that they do not want to pay for it.

I am fairly sure that the wiring regulations do not state a minimum size for the tails to a CU, I think this is stated in the on site guide which is certainly just a guide.

Was the fuse sealed did you actually see it's a 60 ?

The tails are protected by the fuse
