Just a thought - can a 'competent' person complete and hand over to the client a MWC without being registered with NIC etc?? I know for my EIC's they are completed by me and sent to my boss who then signs and sends to NIC. Just wondered if the MWC has to go the same route?

i beleive you can, its just that some places want nic etc, other than that its still a legal document that your signing

Cirrus any person who is considered to be competent can sign any of the forms, MWC, EIC or PIR

Even if you are a member of an scheme such as the NIC, there is nothing legally to stop you doing works outside that scheme and signing off on non-scheme paperwork
