Hi,
I've been having difficulty mounting a bracket on a brick wall, the bracket needs to be able to hold 15kg and comes with sleeve anchors but for some reason they don't seem to hold. I've bought replacement sleeve anchors and these also do not hold (not sure why as I'm drilling the right size hole) so I was wondering if anybody could give me some helpful pointers on how to tackle this issue
Thanks

Sleeve anchors are normally fairly reliable but if the substrate you are fixing to is weak then they may crack the bricks instead of gripping. the anchor is a fairly powerful force on the substrate and some are intended only for use in concrete.
The hole depth is also relevant as the anchor should be fully inserted.
It is also possible that you are trying to tighten them too much and causing break out.
You do not say why they are not holding so a diagnosis is difficult.
Perhaps a resin anchor system may be a better choice in this case.

I wouldn't use metal sleeve anchors in bricks for the reasons outlined by RB above. Generally I'd go for some hex head coach screws and suitable plastic plugs. Something like these:

Agree with Handysparks - I'd also use coach screws and GOOD QUALITY plugs. It'll be rock solid.

You can buy pre cut studs, the styrene mortar resin is easier to use, just don't fully fill the hole! I have used loads of these both types, the only down side is you will never get them out!:)

The last one uses a standard sealant gun.

thanks everyone for the replies, ended up getting some plugs and screws to get the bracket to hold. not too sure why the sleeve anchors didn't hold, tried them many times and just didn't hold up (i must've been doing something wrong but can't figure out what)
