Hey guys, My Radiator fan (cooling fan No.1) is not getting any supply (12V from the car loom, female connector) when the water temp senor is disconnected and I cant seem to figure out why. I am getting supply (12V from the car loom, female connector)to the air con fan though (cooling fan NO. 2)

Here is the situation:
All fuses (front fuse box and 7.5A gauge) are all ok.

Replaced all relays with known working ones.

I am getting 12v at the relay on cooling fan No.1 when the water temp sensor is disconnected.

there is continuity between the rad fan connector and rad fan relay.

replaced A/C amp with a know working one and still nothing

Anything else I have missed??

Below is a wiring diagram

Am I right in assuming that if the test on the harness that goes into the A/C amp checks out, then it safe to assume I do not have a wiring issue?

Why would you get a supply when the sensor is disconnected.
Are you looking at the right one?
Temp sensors are usually for the gauge and the engine management system.
Temp switch for radiator cooling is usually at the bottom of the radiator or on the bottom hose, monitoring the return temp and switching the fan on if required, ie sitting in traffic.

Paul Woods ( of Woodsport )specialises in engine conversions in MR2s - out with the 4 pot straight 2 litre and in with the 6 pot V6 3 litre, and what he doesn't know about MR2s isn't worth mentioning. He is an absolute gold mine of information and a very nice bloke to talk to.

Thanks for the reply matey, I am looking at the right one as when the Water temp sensor is disconnect both fans power on as a fail safe. I am another mr2 with air con and doing the same test produces the correct response in that both fan power on at full RPM (ive attached a snippet from the user manual)

On my working MR2 both fan connectors (female plug from the car loom) receive a 12v supply.
