I have an extension lead thats runs
2 60watt uv bulbs constant
2x 10watt constant heatmats
Its a 4 port masterplug with surge protection and shuttering wasnt cheap.

Now i have need for 1 more plug for a waterfall i didnt account for another 10 watt plug but no socket.
Can i use a multiway plug in the extension lead to plug 2 of the 10 watts into and last socket would be for the new 10watt

I k ow its a nono cause of overloading sockets but asking ad it will only ever be this max load of 100watts at 1 time it feels like i can bend the rule safely eith no fire risk ?

plug a 2 way extension leadinto the existing lead, then you have 1 extra socket.

FUSES ARE TO PROTECT THE CABLE. If you have a 1.5mm lead on the xtn. lead, that cable will safely take 19A. therefore any fuse < 19A, and > load A , will comply.

The rules are: load current not to exceed any cable ratings (not all cables are rated at 13A) and total earth leakage on a single 13A plug not to exceed 3.5mA. For example, if all the cables are rated 13A, you can connect thirty 100-watt loads (of unity power factor) in any kind of tree of extensions and multiways without overloading anything. But, if each load produces 1mA of earth leakage, as some electronic devices do, then the total leakage flowing back to the wall socket will be 30mA. This is likely to trip any RCD on the circuit, but if it does not, then all that leakage will be passing through a single 13A plug. That's OK while the connection is sound, but if for any reason the connection fails, a single touch point beyond the failure could give a shock current of 30mA which is unacceptable. For leakage currents over 3.5mA, a more robust connector than the 13A plug is mandated, e.g. a 16A EN60309 plug.

Wow loads of advice hehe.
Yes the main extension lead from the wall is 13a.
It has the 2x60watt and 2x 10watt in at the moment
I have a spare 13amp extension lead with 4 sockets. So if i replace the fuse with a 5amp
I can safely plug this in to the 4th plug on my extantionlead and run the 10 watt and new 10watt on the 5amp extension lead right?

Wall-13amp 4way 5m --3appliances and 5amp 4way 1m ext --2 10watt appliances

Leave it with the 13A fuse in it, assuming that's what it has now and is rated for, there's no need to change it.
