Hi people. Bought a 12v dc power splitter cable to power 2 5meter length 5050 colour change LED strip lights. noticed the next day that the cable melted really bad. Im not sure why this is? the ac-dc is a 6amp 72watt and the total power of both strips should be 48watt so that should be fine. Is there a capacity for the splitter cable that I have exceeded? any help much appreciated

12V led lighting strips are supplied in max length of 5 metres for a reason, if more than 5 m is powered in series the current passing though the tape will damage the tape or burn power supply cables,

Better of getting the 230V ones they will run up to 50m in length , but have only used white in that not shore if it comes in coloured
