Working in a kitchen and 5 mins ago the customer went to unplug the coffee maker plugged into the same double socket as my iPhone charger, as he went to unplug the coffee maker my iPhone charger exploded the whole of the socket is now black, it had triped the MCB back at the CU, RCD still up, for it to go bang must have been a live to neutral fault..

Anyone have any ideas??

It just heard Steve Jobs has packed it in and has had enough too :smoking:

But seriously, was it a genuine Apple branded charger or a cheap Chinese import?

Ha ha ha, It had been on side charging for an hour, it's the best toy I've ever had.. Helps me in my everyday work no end, thought it had fried my phone at first

Right I’ll be honest TPES, in the past I’ve had to call in specialist consultants to machines. I’ve NOT been impressed when they’ve got the model and serial No. The next thing they do is call head office for advice. To me to be on the phone constantly smacks of un-professionalism.

Sorry but I’m old fashioned. If I was told it’s a call from the G/F Etc. their feet wouldn’t touch the floor on the way out!

Now that that's out of the way.....

Did ya have a look inside the socket?

unprofessional for a self employed spark to answer the phone/make calls? how are "professional" electricians supposed to get work or order materials without the use of a phone?

he did say constanly on the phone, and i agree, any employee having private phone calls when being paid to work should have his phone confiscated till home time.

I'm an apprentice and one guy I work with is constantly on his phone and he is really slow with everything he does on it. I hate waiting about because I like to just crack on so he can get a little annoying sometimes

A few sites I have worked on phones were a NoNo, mainly because of Ex requirements. I got a somewhat lighthearted ticking off for having mine with me but I was stuck in the lift with the plant manager and the emergency phone didn’t work.

I'd probably lose thousands of pounds a year if I didn't always have my phone to hand to answer quickly as I get emergency jobs to respond to same day, if I didn't answer my phone then someone else would get the work.

Don't understand anyone who has a MOBILE phone but then doesn't keep it on them at ALL times

same here. but trying to get her indoors on her mobile.... if she has remembered to take it with her: if the battery isn't flat: by the time she's found it amongst all the tat in her handbag, it's gone to answerphone. DOH!

I was trying to phone my Mrs yesterday about 3 or 4 times

When she got home,"why didn't you answer your phone"( it kept going to record a message)
"I coudn't use it" "I didn't have any money left on it" she said

typical. about the same as thinking if they turn the oven to maximum temperature, it will heat up quicker. OH, and my tools and gear are "all your crap" until a light fitting or a socket needs replacing.

Ha ha ha, I get that all the time, "move your crap from the bottom of the stairs"... I have it piled at the door ready to take out in the morning.... Along with the trunking, conduit and 6ft fluorescent fittings neatly laid up the stairs..... Don't see what the problem is

Reminds me of the time when we were taking my grandma to the shops....she was sat in the back of the car looking cold so we said "do you want the heating turning up"? Ooh dont do that on my count she says ....i wouldn`t want you to run up a heating bill..........
