Hi,
Thank you for your previous email with regards to becoming a member with NAPIT onto the Just 8 scheme.
To become a member onto the Just 8 scheme the electrician would need to have the correct qualifications, please see below.
· Formal Qualification – NVQ Level 3, Apprenticeship, 2330 Level 2 & 3, 236 Part 1 & 2
· City & Guilds 17[SUP]th[/SUP] Edition Wiring Regulations
· 2391 Inspection & Testing
The electrician must also be in full time employment with another company or in full time employment this is because the electrician isn’t able to work for himself or have their own company.
The electrician must not advertise as the 8 notification is strictly for friends & family only.
The assessment procedure is where the NAPIT field officer would need to visit the onsite domestic property where you would have installed a piece of work, this work would need to be the minimum of a ring main or two new circuits.
When the NAPIT field officer would visit the onsite domestic property he / she would need to see the electrician test the completed installation however the assessment can even be in the electricians own home, once the NAPIT field officer has gone through the assessment & everything is fine and also up to standard the membership would go through to a live status.
The assessment is the same procedure if full scope or Just 8.
If you have any further queries please don’t hesitate to contact me on the details below.
