They have only combined in that them two and ELECSA made it own register of "competent" electricians while NAPIT did their own. This was recently criticized in the Parliamentary committee meeting.

This is the exact reason I'm with niceic because most people favour them, the company my brother works for, they are a massive signage company with about a £30m turnover, they will only use NICEIC contractors.

But very often that's because they've been conned with the fiction that NICEIC are The One And Only. Often if you explain to the customer that NICEIC are merely one of six they'll go oh, that's alright then. No-one likes being taken for a mug.

Well when i was self employed i was with elecsa and then napit, most of my work was commercial for large organisations, I cant remember not getting a job for not being with the NIC, I can remember not getting jobs because I wasnt VAT registered.

The quality of NIC is a myth living off a old reputation and a large marketing budget. Fact is NAPIT require more insurance and quals than the NIC, and they dont quite have the biggest problem in our industry which is the diabolical QS system. If you want really big stuff I always believed it was the ECA you had to be apart of. The NIC also support the DISQ or whatever that crap is called.

The whole electrical register thing is a total joke.

Im knocking the contractors, but if i was NICEIC 10 or more years ago i dont think i would like all the dumbing down thats been done with my money.
