Discuss Need to resit FICA in the Electrical Work - Electricians Jobs area at ElectriciansForums.net

This person requires some work. They've hopefully explained their skills and qualifications and what area they're in. Otherwise, what's the bloody point?

Fraser Lyle Kerr

Hello,

My name is Fraser, im 25 years old and live in scotland. 5 years ago, i sat my FICA test, but failed.

Around the time of my test, my life fell apart. I lost a relationship, my friend died in an accident, another committed suicide. This was alot for me to process and i couldnt cope. Soon after i failed my trade test, i fell into depression. The company i was apprenticing with decided to let me go.

I did not resit my FICA out of anxiety and depression. Its 5 years later i've worked very hard to find peace with myself. But now i dont know how to continue where i left off. My training officer had retired and the guy who took over doesnt have record of me, SECTT did not help me at all here. They just repeated that i speak to the new training officer.

I really need help from someone within the industry as i feel like i've been shunned out of it completely. If i could be taken on by a company willing to put me through my FICA, i wouldnt be able to describe how grateful i would be.

If anyone has any information that would help me reach my goal that would be most appreciated. I just want to get my life back on the track i was on before.

Also sorry to hear of your troubles Fraser, but it seems you've moved on and put those things behind you, I hope.

I know absolutely diddly about FICA, but just googled it, and seen a few hits form this forum;
The new FICA since end of August start of September - http://www.electriciansforums.co.uk/threads/the-new-fica-since-end-of-august-start-of-september.110406/

There are quite a few members of the forum from your part of the world, that might be able to advise. Seems your biggest hurdle, is obtaining your records of training thus far, perhaps your old trainer could give you a steer.

Just 2 previous. Would prefer if replies could only be posted if it has information that progresses my situation. Dont like to get my hopes up when i get an email notification that someone has replied and find out it's sympathy responses

Sorry about that, only trying to bump you to the top! Think the issue is this thread is tucked away, and as it's not a recent thread, it won't appear in the recent thread alerts. Might be worth PM'ing a Mod and see if it can be transferred to the main forum?

Can you not speak to the college that you completed your SVQ3 with they will have records and proof of all your assessments ect.

SECTT should be helping you with this, if they say you need to speak to the new training officer then ask for his number and spark to him.

If you have been absent for 5 year, I'm afraid you will have been deregistered with Sectt if you did not apply for an extention see page 16

I'm not sure how you will need to go about re sitting, I think you will have to find employment with a company who will take you on as an adult trainee, if it says been 5 years I'm sure you could do with brushing up on things as the FICA is not straight forward and it is common for people to fail, they are very heavy on safe working practices and inspect and test.
