Discuss NIC Di PIR? in the Australia area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi,

I am looking at joining the NIC domestic installer scheme (dont agree after 26yrs on the tools that i should have to be in any scheme other than JIB but hey ho) purely because I am going self employed again and will be doing domestic works and NIC because they are known better by customers than Napit etc.

However, i will also be doing some Periodic Inspection reports at some stage. i Know the NIC wont issue me with PIR pads, so surely i can just issue my own PIR's and that would be none of the NIC's business eh? By the way I do't want to go NIC Approved- did that 6 years ago and was a pain having 5 jobs assesed and nearly 900 quid. I only did it to keep a repeat client happy.

Any one else doing their own PIR's while being a NIC DI?

you can apply to the NICEIC, for a extension to scope to include PIR's, at a cost of course as per usual!

I personally use same 6 page NCR certificates supplied by the NIC but i use the green ones that have no NICEIC markings

as long as your clients dont request niceic then you could just copy perodic sheets from the net and do it that way at the end of the day its only a report

If you work out the cost of a pir extension to the domestic scope its cheaper to go approved. They rarely ask to see more than 3 jobs

Mmm not a cheap extension then - i'll check their site. My Approved application was a half day business/office assessment, followed by a full day assessment of 5 jobs, so in reality cost me 800 odd quid + 2 lost days + books and meters. Then after a year i emigrated DOH!

Thanks for the replies dudes
