Pretty new to this forum but I'm looking to find out if a NICEIC contractor produces a certificate for an electrical installation to say the installation complies with all the relevant regs and then there is a problem in the installation e.g a fatality or a fire due to a bad installation that never complied in the first place who is responsible if this case went to court the person signed of the cert of the owner of the installation?

Any help would be great
 
If you're the person who signed it off as compliant when it wasn't then it's your arse in the sling mate.
Suppose you wired a shop, signed it off as compliant when it was not how could the shop owner who has no knowledge of electrical installations be responsible for it? That's why he or she employed you, for your skill and expertise.
