You can also register your willingness to accept short notice appointments [ other applicants cancellations]..and yes you are informed of the outcome on the day..........best of luck !

dont matter about tht once the asseser passes me i can start trading under the niceic logo ;-)

Sorry Iceman, but they won't let you. And they won't let you buy signs for the van or anything.
You have to wait for your registration number.
I was very annoyed about this too. But if you phone up and harrass them a bit it comes through sooner. I think it took about 7 days for me, and only two phone calls to the NIC.
Good luck on the assessment. Hopefully you get a guy as nice as i did. It was a walk in the park.
My best advice is don't worry or flap. And remember you can use your OSG and other books to get the answers. He won't expect you to know it all by heart.

tht sucks doesnt it thy mk ya wait forever for an assesment thn once ya pass ya gotta wait another 20 years for the numbers unreal lol oh well as thy say **** happens lol i'll get there chaps ;-)

Good luck Iceman ! Ive still to register will do next week ! dont know what time scale elecsa take might be worth finding out but yes pitty the assessor doesnt have your number on his pass/fail assessment sheet as that will be a better way of doing things ! you'd think they would do wouldnt you and like the driving test they should give you a pass paper with your number etc on it ! wouldnt hurt them would it after that bish bosh they take from you !
Regards
Kung.

Chaps, dont panic about it!

You will get all your membership stuff with passwords etc through a few days later.

Assuming you pass of course.

You'll need a calibration certificate for your test equipment.
The NIC wants a copy of your insurance cert. The assessor seeing it apparently isn't enough!
Do you work on your own, or do you have employees? If you have 5 or more people wrking for you, you'll need a Health and safety doc.
ope this helps.

I was told by the nic inspector on my first inspection that even though I had no employees, they still wanted a health & safety policy.
He also said that I could just download one from their web site which I did and that was ok.

Kipfonz : As long as you know what you are doing with your testing i think you will be OK. The questions he asked were about disconnection times, and other stuff that was pretty easy to find in the 17th BS7671. (big red book as i call it)
Just remember to not just blurt out the answers and look in your books first.
One question he did ask was about maximum Zs allowed. And why the numbers in the (big red) and the OSG differ.

It was a few months ago now, but my assessor was more concerned with testing than my book knowledge.

My advice would be make him a cup of tea/coffee, try to find some common ground. Don't kiss up to him, but make sure you come across as a nice guy who is joining the NICEIC only to become a BETTER electrician.

Make sure you have all your paperwork ready for him, and don't stress. My assessor told me he had only ever stopped one guy from working, and it was because he was just so nervous, he was all covered with sweat and his hands were shaking, so the assessor don't want him holding screwdrivers and test leads near the CU.
The assessor is there to help you, not to catch you out.

Good luck, don't stress, and you'll walk it.

might be worth asking you never know ;)
